FYI- I love music. I love all music (well there are a couple of things- in all genres- that I just can't get into). I remember when I was younger, it was a Sunday morning and we were listening to Kasey Kasem on the Y-100 Miami weekend morning show and a song came on that I didn't like. I asked my mom if I could change the station and she said 'no' because I 'need to learn to appreciate all music.'
That was one of the smartest things my mom ever did for me. I don't think people have to love, or even like all sorts of music, but I think they should have appreciation for them.
If you were to pick up my ipod you would find a great mixture- ranging from Carrie Underwood to IYAZ, Drake to UB40 and Lady Antebellum. I love the stories that songs tell and I love how, like fortune tellers predictions, you can take lyrics and find something in your life that it describes to a T.
My favorite songs right now...I can't pick just one! Sorry.

I have to agree Mr. President
Whether you like him or not, there are certain things that our President says that just make sense. For instance, the one thing I really liked:
{and this is by no means verbatim}
Young people should not go broke because they chose to get a college education.
I have always been an advocate. Having come from a middle class family, I was fortunate enough to earn a scholarship to help pave my way through college. However, I found it necessary to take out student loans to help cover additional costs that my part-time job couldn't help pay for. Now, as a working adult I feel that if a person gets a college education, chooses to better herself and her society/country/world, and abides by the law- well, then why should they give a sum of money to a large creditor when that money could be used to stimulate the economy?

Hope for Haiti Now
If you have not yet given a donation, no matter the size, please consider doing so. The people of Haiti didn't have much to begin with, and after a deadly earthquake and a horrific aftershock that was equally as devastating, they have even less.
There are many ways to donate. If you live outside of the USA go to hopeforhaitinow.org
You can even text "GIVE" to 50555 and have $10 added to your phone bill.
Or visit Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders or Partners in Health.
Unless you have gone through a natural disaster yourself you can't even begin to imagine what it is like- sleeping outside, bathing in the streets, not knowing when or if things will get better...
For all of my friends who have family in Haiti, or who have lost family in Haiti, you have my deepest condolences and sympathy. I hope for a speedy recovery that not only strengthens the people of Haiti, but Haiti itself. Haiti will rise from the ashes like the Phoenix and will be better than ever.
Please give if you have not yet already. Anything will help.
If you have given, your donations are tremendously appreciated. Please consider giving again.
Skip a movie. Don't eat out this weekend. Forget about a mani/pedi. Instead, think about all the good that you can do with just $5, $10, $20. Please give.
The amazing success that viral networking has had for raising money is tremendous! In one day over $1 million was raised on social sites like Twitter and Facebook. Share a similar status in your status bars- spread the word- and don't let this horrible act of nature be forgotten by Monday, because while you and I will wake up on Monday morning and drag our feet to work, the people of Haiti won't have that leisure.

Happy Birthday to Me!
Today is my birthday and I can't help but get this feeling...it's a sense of happiness but not excitement. I'm thinking that comes with the numbers but I can't help but feel bad that I'm beginning to loose that sense of pure joy knowing that it's my birthday.
Now, that doesn't diminish how much fun or how happy I am on my birthday!
Yesterday, Sonny and I went to Reangthai for my birthday dinner. It was a lovely thai restaurant and i will not be getting my food "hot" there any time soon! It was teh perfect blend of spice and flavor and it has almost this 'hole in the wall' location. Either way, there service and the food was spectacular!
We came back home and we had birthday cake, because let's face it- what's a birthday without birthday cake. We danced and then we passed out.
Today since it was "my" day we did some shopping. I got a great centerpiece bowl from Michaels. I had been wanting one but they are so expensive. I lucked out because this was the last one left in the holiday clearance section. And instead of me paying $25- I got it for under $10. Then we made our way to World Market and picked up some seat cushions for the dining room table. They also had these on clearance and on Wednesday I found these lovely red ones but left my coupon at home...so when I went back today with my coupon they didn't have the color I wanted- so I took them in yellow. They match and I came away with a steal on 4 seat cushions! I picked up some other minor things and now we are making my birthday dinner (part two I guess.)
We are having: dahl, rice, potatoe/chickpea/butterbean curry!!! Yum! Just what you need on a cold night like this.
Oh and I forgot to mention that we had our work party on Friday night and that was a blast. Margie, Emily, Kim and I managed to take a so-so place and make it look really nice. Us girls rock and we danced the night away.

Goodbye '09/ Hello '10
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year's Eve!
I was lucky to spend xmas with my family and then spend new year's eve with my fiance and friends. Considering the hardships of 2009 Sonny and I were lucky enough to pull in some really nice gifts from my family and our friends~ Thank you to everyone!
While in Miami I managed to do a LOT of wedding planning. I think we found the venue, although we had to change our initial date. Now we have to choose between 10/9/10 or 10/23/10. We'll share a date once we know. My initial dress appointment was HORRIBLE, but that last one turned out to be good :)
Thanks for my mom, dad, sister, and Jacky for going everywhere with me for wedding stuff!
Even though I couldn't celebrate Jacky's 25th on the actual day we were able to celebrate a bit early. The girls and I all planned a surprise dinner for Jacky at Akashi in Miami. It was so much fun! (See video below)
I flew back into Tally yesterday (new years eve) and we met up with Nestor and Jeremy to ring in the new year. We started at the clubhouse then made our way downtown to Kleman Plaza for drinks, music and fireworks.
Reflecting on 2009 I can truly say it's been a roller coaster. I was faced with many trials and came through unscathed and for that I am stronger. And while 2009 began with hardship it ended on an incredible happy note with me becoming engaged to my best friend who I love more than words. I am so lucky and happy to have incredible people in my life. You all contribute to the person I am and continue to evolve into.
