Happy Birthday to me!
Yesterday I celebrated my 27th year of life. Thanks to a great husband, I got a whole weekends worth of celebration. Sat we went to dinner and got a small cake; Sunday I got pampered and finished the small cake; Monday some friends took me out to lunch and the boy got me Glee cd's and cupcakes! (Yep- I got cupcakes on top of eating the entire (almost) small ice cream cake. And it only took me 5 mins. of begging/pouting.)
Growing up my mom used to always make whatever we wanted to eat for our birthday. I usually asked for briyani or shrimp curry. Well, since mom's not here the task now lies with Sonny. Since his culinary skills are developing I decided to go with a doozy: chicken tacos. They were yum!
And thanks to facebook I started recieving such lovely messages from friends near and far beginning on Sunday.I love facebook for allowing others to remember my birthday and make me feel special :) I love them even more for reminding me of other people's birthdays!

Not quite resolute for my resolution.
It seems like 2010 was gone in the blink of an eye. I feel like all the major events in my life happened so quickly that I never truly had the chance to stop and embrace them...I guess time really doesn't stand still. I've never been one for resolutions. I make up a couple, which I think are the standard fare for most people: be healthier, laugh more, find your own happiness in everything, etc... But this year I think I am going to resolve to slow down time.
No, I know I cannot metaphysically slow down time, but I can slow my pace. I can take my time each and every day to enjoy the small moments as well as the big ones. I can choose to relish in a Sunday afternoon as opposed to dreading the impending Monday. I can choose to do things I want, instead of only doing things I have to. I can choose...I can choose whatever I want, so long as I maintain a balance in life, and I think that is something I lost sight of in 2011.
So that's the plan...here's hoping I can keep my resolution. What's yours?
PS: Our honeymoon to Montego Bay, Jamaica was phenomenal and I completely recommend Secret's St. James- and splurge on the preferred club- 100% worth it! We also got our wedding pictures back. This one is my favorite!
